Summer Vacation in the Black Hills. 2022
This Summer we set off for the Black Hills in Mainly South Dakota. Charles and Nathan accompanied us this trip for the fifteen day experience.
Deadwood South Dakota
We first stayed in Deadwood South Dakota at a cool place called First Deadwood Cottages. Main Street was close and we were able to just walk there in just a few minutes. Lots of museums, tourist stores, restaurants, and casinos. Deadwood has actors that reenact gunfights in the street several times a day and also does the assignation of Wild Bill Hickock.
In Deadwood we ate at the #10 Saloon where Wild Bill Hickock was murdered playing poker. We took a ride on a horse drawn wagon. Watched a reenacted wild west shootout. Went shopping, visited the Adams house museum, and the Brothel museum.
The Devils Tower Wyoming
Spearfish Canyon South Dakota
Spearfish Canyon was a lot of fun. There are three waterfalls, and several cool rock formations and or cliffs. Nathan really liked climbing up the rocks at spearfish falls.
4th of July 2022
On the 4th of July the we went up to a special locals only spot to see the fire works from over the open cut of the old Homestake mine. We basically went up the side of a mountain on a dirt trail in the dark. We have never seen fireworks from this angle and thought it was very cool. – Thank you Wayne.
